Pet insurance

Pet insurance can help you look after your cat or dog so that unexpected treatment bills don’t make everyday life a worry. We insure not just pedigree cats and dogs, but also mixed-breeds – because to us, every pet is a member of the family. We cover accidents, unexpected illness and unavoidable medical procedures so that you can focus on what really matters: the time you spend with your beloved animals.

Terms and conditions

Treatment expenses

If your pet suddenly falls ill or is involved in an accident, this insurance will help cover most of your vet bills – meaning you can focus on your cat or dog’s well-being, not the cost of their treatment. You can choose between different insurance amounts, which also cover higher unexpected treatment expenses. We reimburse necessary veterinary expenses, including the following:

  • Visit and consultation fees (incl. telephone and video consultations)
  • Examinations and procedures (analyses, X-rays, ultrasounds, operations, medicines in the clinic and hospitalisation)
  • Expenses necessary for recovery (medicines, medical aids and special post-operative food, if needed)
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic expenses related to the exacerbation of a chronic (incl. hereditary) disease of up to €300 per insurance period
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic expenses related to allergies of up to €300 per insurance period

Dental care expenses

If your cat or dog has an accident or is struck by sudden and painful toothache, dental cover can help you cope with unexpected costs. We reimburse reasonable expenses that are veterinarily justified for the treatment (and, where necessary, extraction) of damaged or destroyed teeth and related oral cavity care.

We reimburse, for example:

  • treatment for tooth fractures or destruction resulting from an accident; and
  • treatment for sudden and acute dental disease, incl. oral cavity treatment prescribed by a veterinarian.

We do not reimburse expenses incurred for routine dental check-ups, removal of tartar, removal of milk teeth, problems caused by poor oral hygiene, or cosmetic procedures. First and foremost, the insurance is designed to cover serious and unexpected dental problems.

Dental cover of up to €600 per year.

Rehabilitation expenses

Rehabilitation cover will help your pet get back on its feet more quickly following an accident or illness. We are currently the only company in Estonia to offer such insurance. We reimburse the cost of rehabilitation treatment (e.g. physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage or laser treatment) recommended by a veterinarian if the expenses are related to the insured event and the treatment is carried out by a qualified specialist. In this way you can ensure professional rehabilitation for your cat or dog without worrying about the cost.

Theft, disappearance or death of an animal

If your cat or dog is taken or goes missing, we pay out the insurance amount indicated in your policy and reimburse reasonable expenses incurred in searching for the animal (up to 200 euros). We assume that you have actively searched for your pet (e.g. by putting up posters, using social media or contacting the police or animal shelters) and that the animal has not been found within 90 days.

No compensation is paid if the animal was deliberately left unattended or, in the case of cats, if it was allowed to go outside, or if the animal’s whereabouts are known but it is not under the control of the owner.

If your pet dies as a result of an accident or sudden illness, we pay a lump sum up to the amount insured. The case becomes an insurance incident when the animal has not been found within 90 days of the day on which the policyholder notified the insurer of the theft or disappearance of the animal.

Pet owner’s liability insurance

This insurance covers you in situations where your cat or dog causes harm to a third party, e.g. by damaging their property or causing them an injury.

We reimburse, for example:

  • the cost of property damage (if your pet breaks or damages someone’s property, such as a phone, glasses or fence);
  • the cost of personal injury (if someone is injured or suffers health issues due to your animal); and
  • the cost of legal assistance (if you need a lawyer to help you with a claim).

Useful to know!

There are three insurance packages available: Väike Käpp, Kindel Käpp and Super Käpp.

The packages can only be selected and purchased in the online store.

When purchasing through an insurance product representative, the representative helps to choose a suitable solution and complete the contract.

  • You can insure your cat or dog from the age of 2 months. The earlier your pet is covered, the less risk there is of an issue being excluded as a pre-existing health problem.
  • New contracts are subject to a 14-day waiting period in the case of medical expenses and death, but there is no such period if your pet is lost or stolen, or in cases involving liability insurance.
  • The deductible for pet insurance is €70.
  • There is no deductible if your pet is lost, stolen or dies – we pay the full amount according to the sum indicated in your policy.
  • As a general rule, illnesses and health issues which existed prior to the insurance period are not covered. However, exacerbations of chronic illnesses and the diagnosis and/or treatment of allergies are covered under the conditions within the limits set out in the policy.
  • Routine care is not covered: vaccinations, treatment of parasites, grooming and cosmetic procedures are at the owner’s expense.
  • Vaccination is also important from an insurance point of view, since the expenses incurred in treating some serious infectious diseases (incl. rabies and parvovirus) will not be reimbursed if the animal is not vaccinated.
  • You can choose which vet to go to – simply retain your vet bills and your pet’s medical history.
