General requirements in the case of a property insurance loss event

  • Limit further loss and damage to the property. Save what can be saved!
  • Notify Seesam of the event as soon as possible and follow the instructions provided by Seesam.
  • Complete the Household Property Insurance Loss Adjustment Form and append a list and photos of the damage. Preserve the damaged items for which you would like to receive an indemnity.
  • Maintain the site of damage in an untouched state, except for the actions required to limit further major loss, until a representative of Seesam has examined it.

Fire

  • Evacuate the people or provide the injured party/parties with first aid, if necessary.
  • Limit further spread of the fire, if possible.
  • If you are unable to gain control of the fire, call the fire service. To do so, dial the emergency number 112 of the Emergency Response Centre.
  • Guide the firefighters quickly to the scene of the fire.

Break-in, robbery, vandalism

Water damage

  • Shut off water.
  • If you are unable to do so, call for assistance. Call the building manager, their emergency response team, or a 24-hour plumber.
  • If it is possible that the water damage reached or will reach a neighbour, notify the neighbour thereof.
  • Start cleaning and drying work immediately and protect your property against any further possible damage (take the property to another room, cover it with plastic, etc.).

Liability insurance

  • Immediately notify Seesam about the damage - as soon as you have reason to believe that you have caused damage to a third party.
  • Fix the circumstances surrounding the damage (take pictures, copy down the contact information or explanations of witnesses).
  • Work with Seesam in determining the amount of loss and assessing the liability of the policyholder.
  • Remember that without Seesam’s approval any promises or agreements are not binding upon Seesam.
